Lionesses

‘The Pride of Rugby’

The Rugby Lionesses were formed in October 2010 by a group of local ladies who wanted to further develop their fitness and social network through the game of Rugby. Each of the founding members and most of the players are local to Rugby and many have a close connection to The Rugby Lions RFC who we are proud to represent as their Women’s Team.

Last season saw us enter into the West Midlands Cluster Development League, a league designed for new teams to further enhance their play and enjoy Rugby both on and off the pitch; and we finished joint third in the league.  This is undoubtedly down to the training regime we have, the strong leadership and guidance under our Coach’s and the dedication and commitment we all show from being part of The Rugby Lionesses’ and for a newly developed team we have a strong following of supporters who travel to both home and away games to help us roar louder.

As we look toward the end of 2012/13 and the remainder of our games, we are already planning our future within the Women’s Leagues and are aiming to have a stronger and fitter team for 2013/14 to put us firmly on the Women’s Rugby Union map.

We train at The Rugby Lions Seconds pitch at Webb Ellis Road on Thursdays 7pm - 9pm throughout the season and will continue training through the summer on Thursday nights 7pm-9pm (location to be confirmed).

We are always looking for more ladies to join our ‘Pride’ so if you are interested in coming and giving Rugby a try, or want to come for some fitness and fun and just see how it goes - why don't you come on down to training!

For further details email us on rugbylionesses@gmail.com, or visit our Facebook page.

Alternatively give Gemma (Captain) or Roger (Head Coach) a call on 07788951512/07921515024 for more information.

Come and join the 'Pride' of Rugby and let everyone hear you ROAR!!
